About Me

Get to Know Jody Pollack

Smoke and Sawdust

Smoke and sawdust. What do these two words have in common? Well, glad you asked. They are the results of the efforts of Jody Pollack. Jody, is a woodworker specializing in Judaica and smaller gifts. He is also a retired rocket scientist and currently the Executive Director of the Atlanta Kosher BBQ Festival as well as a competitive BBQ Brisket chef.

Jody makes Mezuzahs and Menorahs out of locally sourced wood. In fact when a friend was “gifted” a significant portion of his neighbor’s Pecan tree, in other words, the tree fell down into his backyard, he was kind enough to let Jody cut up and remove some of the Pecan tree in a manner reminiscent of Tom Sawyer and the fence.

Some of that Pecan has been turned to smoke via Jody’s Big Green Egg and some to sawdust. Luckily a significant portion of the non-sawdust Pecan that remained has since been transformed by Jody into Mezuzahs and Menorahs that Jody has for sale.

If you would like Jody to make a custom Menorah, Mezuzah or something else for you, please reach out and we can begin the process.

As for the smoke, Jody is very proud to announce the successful return of the 2021 Atlanta Kosher BBQ Festival. Mark your calendars for the Tenth Anniversary Atlanta Kosher BBQ Festival, Sunday October 23rd back at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody Georgia and watch the BBQ  website and Facebook pages for updates.

We hope to see y’all there in the Fall.

It starts out as a tree and then becomes smoke, sawdust or something amazing to behold.
